Brava City Council Forecasts a 21.9 Million Escudos Increase in the Municipal Financing Fund

According to the projected figures, the municipality is expected to receive an additional 21,971,359$00 in 2027 compared to the amount allocated the previous year. The increase represents a rise of approximately 17.5% in transfers to the municipality.

The growth of the Municipal Financing Fund could significantly strengthen the financial capacity of the Brava City Council, at a time when the municipality faces various challenges related to infrastructure, regularizing precarious employment relationships, updating the salaries of program monitors, paying back pay to more than 90 employees, as well as public services and local development.

According to a source interviewed by Bravanews, with more financial resources available, the municipality would have greater leeway to plan and carry out investments considered priorities for the island, particularly in the areas of roads and local trails, water supply, sanitation, transportation, street lighting, and municipal facilities.

The projected increase could also allow the City Council to strengthen certain social policies and support initiatives aimed at local economic development, including agriculture, fishing, tourism, sports, culture, and other areas considered strategic for Brava’s future.

According to an opposition representative, the increase in financial transfers must also be accompanied by rigorous and transparent management of public resources. The efficient use of these funds will be essential to ensuring that the financial boost has a tangible impact on improving the population’s living conditions.

The expectation is that the forecast for 2027 will be reflected in investments capable of addressing the island’s most urgent needs, especially in a context where the population has been demanding solutions to structural problems that have persisted for several years.

With an increase of nearly 22 million escudos, Brava’s municipal budget may gain new room for maneuver in 2027. It will now be up to the municipality to set priorities, ensure transparency in implementation, and translate this increase in resources into concrete results for residents.
